David Handler joined the firm in 2008 to establish a global technology advisory practice. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Handler was Joint Head of Technology Investment Banking at UBS. Prior to UBS, Mr. Handler was a Senior Managing Director of Bear Stearns responsible for the firms Global Communications Technology and Software Group. Mr. Handler has completed over $40 billion in financing and advisory assignments. Select assignments include representing Cisco Systems in its $6.9 billion acquisition of Scientific Atlanta; Huawei in its divestiture of their interest in the 3Com joint venture in 2006 and their subsequent $2.2 billion re-acquisition along with Bain in 2007; Redback in its $2.1 billion sale to Ericsson; Itron on its acquisition and financing of SEI in 2004 and Actaris in 2007; IPC on its acquisition of Westcom and its $1.1 billion financing, Arris Corporation in its acquisition of C-Cor; AFC Communications in its $1.6 billion merger with Tellabs; and Avaya in its $1 billion recapitalization. In addition, he has completed multiple financing/advisory transactions for technology clients such as Xerox, Alcatel, Lucent, Motorola as well as technology focused financial sponsors such as Silver Lake Partners and Bain Capital.
Mr. Handler attended New York University and has an MBA and Bachelor’s degree from the Stern School of Business at New York University. Mr. Handler maintains close ties to NYU through his participation in the Dean’s Advisory Council and his sponsorship of a scholarship program there. Mr. Handler is a member of the Board of Directors of Penn National Gaming, the nation’s third largest gaming company and he is a member of the Executive Committee and Board of Directors of the New Group, one of the leading non-profit organizations in New York focused on the arts.
